I am satisfied with this lock. The length is just right for locking to a post/fence/etc. Although the cable is quite stiff and takes a bit of wrestling to thread it thru the fence slats. Still, I'm glad I didn't get a 5 or 6 footer that would have been thinner gauge. Along with the bike frame bracket, this lock travels very well. The key action is smooth and works well.

I have had one of these locks for over a year -- I just bought a second one. This is a great "in-between" lock to have -- much stronger and better than the coiled combination locks, but not has hard core as the U-locks. Because the lock is a 2-foot cable, it's easy to wrap it around a stationary like a signpost or a small tree. It can handle much larger diameters than a U-lock, which requires a fixed bike stand or a narrow pole.I would have no problem locking my bike -- worth about $800 -- in most neighborhoods during the day with this lock. I would think twice in some situations about leaving it overnight. In fact, I have a U-Lock for such situations. But the U-locks are heavy to carry around and don't provide as much flexibility in terms of where you can lock your bike, so this is a great in-between solution.The lock mounts easily and doesn't rattle around while you ride. The cable is rubber coated so it doesn't scratch your bike.This is a good all-around lock at a great price and I would definitely recommend it.

This cable bike lock is as sturdy as the picture makes it to be on the Kryptonite website. Always check this item's specs on the Kryptonite website before buying because the Amazon website is full of errors. I would have given this bike lock 5 stars if it would have been easier to carry. The "problem" is that the thick cable is so thick and sturdy, it's very hard to 'coil' it beyond the standard locking position. Why would I want to coil it a bit? Uhh, to make it a bit more compact so that it can be carried on my bike's pannier/bag. For a cable labeled as a "Krypto-FLEX" there is nothing flexible about this cable. Yes, it comes with a bracket for transporting, but most bikes (like mine) simply don't any room where you can have a bracket dangling some 3-pound cable from it. I'll still give it 4 stars, because the cable itself is undeniably thick and sturdy and will surely require some effort for a thief to cut up.
