I recently purchased a scooter for errands and fun. Great gas mileage by the way. Around here 5 or 6 scooters are stolen a week. Bad economy, good scooter sales. I use my 1217 to secure the scoot to anything that can't be picked up and moved. The 5' length lets me lock up almost anywhere I go. Only CVS doesn't have a thing to lock to so I use the drive thru window. It's a heavy lock but OK for packing away inside the scooter storage compartment. Anyone who thinks they can pick this lock with a Bic pen is about 3 years behind the times. The new updated lock isn't opening for anyone without a key.

Really heavy, but I only use it in the garage - I don't have to carry it around. I can't imagine anyone even bothering to steal my bicycle with this thing on it.

This is a MASSIVE chain. You will not want to carry this with you on a bicycle. I use it to secure multiple bikes together in my garage where a thief had previously gotten through a cable lock. I no longer worry about that thief returning.
